Fact #1 {about the girl behind O.S.D}

I LOVE CHAIRS!

I have this thing about chairs, if I see one on curb side trash, & see the potential . . . .  I HAVE to have it! If I see one in a second hand store, & see the potential . . . . . I HAVE to have it!

I have a few NEW chairs and some 2nd Hand chairs oh and I also have a funky arm chair that was left in a rental that the real estate just 'wanted someone to come and get it', Guess who put her hand right up!!!!!!!!

So here are some chairs currently in our home . . . . .

The Real Estate Arm Chair
I loved this the minute I saw it, It currently has a home in our bedroom, but I think it might find it's way into the babies room {when there is one} as it is super comfy! {Unfortunately our cat Henry loves to scratch it so it has a few pulls now too.}

Dinning Chairs
The dinning table and chairs was a wedding present from my Dad and Step Mum. My husband actually picked them, unlike me and my chair fetish, I was swinging toward the brown chairs {nice safe option} but so glad now that we have the red as they are really cool.

Office Chair
This is my office chair, it is the SNILLE swivel chair from Ikea. Can get a little hard on the bottom so I usually add a cushion . . . .

OPPY Find
This chair was $5 from an Oppy, Unfortunately I don't have a before photo as this one got pulled apart, sanded {thanks hubby} and spray varnished and then I recovered the chair pads and we screwed it all back together. It's now nicely sitting in our kitchen/dining/lounge area and used every day, if not for a bottom then for my handbag!

OPPY Find #2

This was another Oppy find.  You can see how the 'Before'   became the 'After' HERE.
It's new home is now in my sewing room.

OPPY find #3
This chair currently lives in our shed, I am hoping to find a home for it before my hubby does another shed clean out and decides that we don't need another chair!!

Outdoor table and chairs.
This was free with the loved arm chair. When I went to pick up the chair they asked if I wanted a 4 piece table and chair set too. So I thought why not, we don't have an out door setting. I had all intention to paint it, and I do have the paint but have not got around to it in the last year. It also came with a glass top, but it has got a bit banged up now in the shed so probably won't put it back on. I will add to my to do list and add photo's once done.

And one little beauty . . .
{who was a curb side trash find and now lives in the house of a very special 8yr old girl!}

This little chair was sitting on the side of the road all alone! It now lives in the room of a 8 year old who uses it every day. It didn't once look like this I must add. {no before photo again sorry, I will be better at that from now on!}

It was silver and rusting and had this horrible orange {I wouldn't even call it orange anymore} fluffy {or fluffy} chair cover!
 So a sand, a bit of white spray paint, and a new FLUFFY white seat cover and it goes very well with {another O.S.D creation} don't you think?

My NEW sewing room chair . . . .

Oh how I LOVE chairs!

It is a standing joke now, that when ever I go OPPYing that I'm going to go home with a stray chair. . . {Unfortunately hubby doesn't see the need, but Shhhhhh he doesn't know about this one yet. hee hee}  But this time I did think, 'Where can I put you' before I bounded up to the counter with the biggest smile on my face to pay for my $8 {yes that is right} $8 chair.
Oh how I LOVE chairs, Oh how I LOVE Oppy finds!!!!

The next Question was: "What to do with this chair"?, Then I stumbled upon Li'l Magoolie and her amazing blog and her monthly challenge:
colourmehappy-lilmagoolie.gif

Unfortunately I missed January:

Add something yellow to your bedroom (or your kidlet’s)

and because I only found it on the 27th February I also missed February:

Paint an item of furniture in a colour that makes you happy!

So you could imagine how ecstatic I was to find that March challenge was:

Your challenge: Get crafty with the colour green

Yay! My chair fitted into all 3 months. {When I read February's challenge I already had the fabric and had planned on painting the chair white, but changed to yellow to fulfill the challenge. But I then missed the dead line {as it was only 2 days away}. So that is why I was sooooooo pleased that March was GREEN as, WALLA,  green seat cover.

I do plan on making more things GREEN as that was technically last months challenge so keep an eye out . . . .

Anyway back to the chair, Here is how I did it.

I took one plain boring chair . . . .

{This is a comfy seat I must add - and no rips - Bonus!}

I sanded. . . .
Which was really easy as the varnish was flaking off anyway. If it wasn't then I would recommend using a varnish stripper like Kwik Strip {You can get it from Bunnings} I like this brand and I think it was one of the cheaper ones, but I think any Brand would be good.
P_SelleysKwikStripSmart_large.jpg

Then I primed using Fiddly Bits from Bunnings $2.95 {This is what the paint guy recommended as he said the paint would come out brighter, but I think I would prefer a lighter undercoat as it took a few coats of paint to cover the dark gray. Though in saying that I'm sure if that was possible he would have recommended that ha!
}

One UGLY gray primed chair.

The paint I chose was Taubmans: Resplendent - {I took in my fabric sample to match it}
I only got a tester pot which was around $6

I covered the seat with the fabric and gun stapled underneath.
{It doesn't have to be fancy, no one will see under here.}

Yay a pretty covered seat .

I just popped the Seat {Bit, thingy} back in, I didn't even bother screwing it or anything as I don't think it will be going anywhere!

And WALLA . . . .  A spunky new chair for my sewing room!

I love to make and give . . . . .

It all started with a $5 Plan Toys barn from the OP Shop.

Front

Back

I brought it because I saw the potential and who could pass up ANYTHING 'Plan Toys' with a $5 price tag! I throw around some ideas of what it could be. Stay as a barn,
Car garage {add a few painted parking spaces and a ramp} or,  maybe a Dollhouse.

It was a few weeks before I was heading up to Cairns to visit my sister and her family so I decided that I would convert it into a Dollhouse for my gorgeous niece Miss S.
So operation Dollhouse/Barn conversion began.

I stripped the paint {Only some parts were painted, the rest was varnished wood, which I decided to keep this way as I liked the mix of painted and unpainted wood.}
I used Kwik Strip from Bunnings, which i painted on, waited a few minutes and scraped off. It can be a bit tedious, but I wanted to paint with white and pink so thought it would be easier to cover if i stripped it back to wood.

I then painted the roof Fizzy Pink by British Paints and the others pieces White.
I nailed a peice of MDF {wooden sheet} to the bottom at the back to make 2 closed in rooms and 'wallpapered' some of the inside walls with scrap booking paper from Smudge and Sparkle Scrapbook Shop here in Ellenbrook, WA.

Paper on the walls on the left is American Crafts-Sophia Tuckett. and the pink is  Hummingbird - Flower

The plain yellow wall on the left is Bazzill Polka Dots and the patterned is Hummingbird - Feather

The aqua flower paper {which i LOVE} is Miss Nelly - Her Smile

The green paper is American Craft - Hello Sunshine - Breezy

Then to top off this little house that I feel in love with, I was at the same OP Shop a week later and found these for just $4. . . . . .

Perfect for little 3yr old fingers!

And here is the GORGEOUS GIRL playing with her new toy!

Why, Hello There . . .

For some time now I have been thinking about starting a blog.

You see, One Spotty Dog all started one day because well,  I wanted a Face Book Business Page! It's one thing to want a FB business page but another for it to have a purpose. So I needed something to put on it, sell from it, a reason for people to become a "Liker" and join me.  So that is how selling Play Mats began and One Spotty Dog was born. {Making the 1st Play Mat is a story in itself that can wait for another time.}

But there is a lot more behind One Spotty Dog . . . . . The Girl {Me, Tash} and all the things that I LOVE to do and make and that is plan for this Blog. To share my creative side, my bargain finds and handy tips. If not for others to get enjoyment, ideas and hopefully inspiration, then for myself to reminisce and hopefully share with my children one day.

So on that note, I have a few projects I have completed that I want to share,  and as for the may things floating around my head, the plan is this year to start ticking off the list and sharing them right here. . . . . .
